Squirrels have been running for eleven years and take children from Eynesbury C of E primary school from the ages of 4-11 years old. We are based in the school hall and have use of the small playground, main hall, field and nursery grounds. We have two permanent members of staff who are qualified first aiders and play workers. All staff including our relief play workers have several years of experience of working with children.
All foundation stage, key stage one and year 3 children are collected from their classrooms at 3.15pm. We run two sessions, 3.15-5.10 and 3.15-6.00. You can book your child in on a permanent basis or temporary from day to day providing there are places. If you need to cancel your place we require a full weeks notice or a charge will incure. We do not charge for children being absent through illness. We offer a 10% discount for two or more children from the same family. We are non profit making and any money goes into improving the club with new equipment. All Squirrels finances are separate from the school.
Once the children arrive we provide a healthy snack of toast or crumpets. Drink and fresh fruit are offered throughout the session. On themed nights we offer food, snacks, arts and craft from the different cultures. Our activities include games, drawing, painting, sewing (both by hand and machine), cooking, team games and lots of art and crafts. All our activities are of free choice and the children are allowed to choose the activities they wish to do. The children take most of the cooking home unless we cook something that is best eaten straight away like pizza’s. We have regular children’s meetings where we discuss club rules and what activities they would like to do over the coming weeks. Our theme nights/weeks have previously been, Chinese, Mexican, Mad Hatters Tea Party, Princess and Army days, James Bond, Pirate Day, Prize Bingo, Film Nights, Discos, Beach and Splash Parties. We encourage the children to dress up and we have different activities throughout the week.
